Davy v. Fox Chase Townhouse Association, Inc.
Successfully represented a homeowner challenging her HOA’s right to place a lien for improperly accelerated assessments and attorneys’ fees. After a trial in the Circuit Court in Annapolis, the Court found that the HOA was not entitled to the lien and awarded a majority of our client’s claimed attorneys’ fees. The HOA appealed, the parties argued the matter before the Court of Special Appeals in Annapolis and Ms. Davy against prevailed. The matter finally resolved on confidential terms.

L.D. & K.D. v. HOA
After an HOA was awarded its attorneys’ fees after a dispute with one of the residents, the couple retained Mr. Skipper. A letter he authored caused the HOA’s insurance to pay the attorneys’ fee award on behalf Mr. Skipper’s clients. When the HOA still wanted to move forward against the homeowners, Mr. Skipper brought competing claims alleging defamation based on allegedly false statements made by the HOA President. The case was resolved favorably when the HOA abandoned its claims in exchange for Mr. Skippe

D.H., et al. v. Challenger Transportation
Mr. Skipper represented a class of 44 plaintiffs who had been employed as transportation drivers for the Defendant employer. Plaintiffs alleged in the lawsuit that they were required to report to work at a set time, but would be made to wait until they were given a route or sent home. Plaintiffs alleged that they were not paid for waiting time, and were not paid for time spent driving to the first route in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The case resolved on confidential terms.
